On the 21st May FPC’s Bernice Blundell ran the Windermere Marathon, her first marathon, in honour of her mother and to raise much needed funds for Dementia UK by way of a thank you to the organisation for the support it gave to her and her family.
As Bernice explains: “When my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago, Dementia UK became a reliable source of comfort for us all as its dedicated nurses supported my family, as they do many others, with expert advice and guidance to make the experience as comfortable and manageable as possible. I can’t imagine how we’d have got through it all without them.”
Not only has she so far raised over 60% of her target, but she also ran the course in an incredible 4 hours and 44 minutes, coming first place in her category.
Bernice would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to her page – it made the blisters worth it! If you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause, the JustGiving page is still open and can be found by following this link.
