Bernice Blundell

Partner

“The best part of the job is helping clients make the best decisions for themselves and their families, and not always financial decisions. I enjoy getting to know people and believe that relationships matter.

My maths background has instilled in me a desire to get things right so I help clients understand how their plan works as well as what we’re trying to achieve.

It’s part of our role to share our knowledge and I enjoy working collaboratively with fellow financial planners in other firms and actively support our regional professional body. I am also involved in raising the profile of Financial Planning and other Maths orientated career paths in local schools and I’m keen to get more women into the profession.”

Bernice joined FPC in 1997 following a number of years at a leading pensions actuarial firm and national brokerage. She became a Partner in 2010.

Bernice’s Maths and actuarial background led her to pursue a technical career, with a particular interest in pensions and retirement planning. Her dual strengths as a pension specialist and financial planner have helped guide the FPC team to develop a completely integrated approach to pensions, investment and estate planning, viewing them all as part of one strategic plan.

Bernice’s professional qualifications include:

  • Chartered Financial Planner
  • Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute
  • Affiliate of the Society of Trust & Estate practitioners

As a lead client adviser, Bernice’s main role is to support FPC’s clients in achieving their lifetime goals. Her main focus is helping clients to plan for, and then navigate the transition from work to retirement and beyond. She works across generations in families to help minimise the burden of inheritance tax and protect wealth across generations. Bernice also leads FPC’s planning team from a technical and compliance perspective.

Bernice loves keeping fit in the great outdoors, whatever the weather. She enjoys taking part in her local parkrun, hill walking, trail running and regular trips to the Lake District. A happy family, including numerous dogs, keeps her busy every weekend.
