Celebrating milestone birthdays can do all manner of strange things to people… for Moira, who will be 60 next month, it’s meant a decision to walk the first stage of the Camino Way in northern Spain, from San Sebastian to Bilbao – a distance of 125km in six days down mountainous terrain.

It is an endeavour Moira is pursuing both to celebrate her milestone birthday and also, poignantly, to raise funds in memory of her Dad who passed away at just 59 and brother Kevin who was only 40.

The money donated to Moira’s mission is for two very special organisations:

Sean’s Place in Bootle, where Moira was born and bred, supports men struggling with their mental health and who might be at risk of taking their own life.

Alfie’s Squad which was set up by a young Alfie Furlong to support children who have lost a parent to suicide.

As Moira explains: “If these two groups were around in 2002 when we lost Kevin, I’m sure they would have been a great support and I’d like to do my bit now to help them continue to support others.

“Thankfully, my husband Mark is walking with me as I have no sense of direction and my daughters would not let me tackle this alone!

“I am grateful to the wonderful team at FPC for enabling me to take the time out to do this and know that while I am away our clients will be in the best of hands.”

We will all be rooting for Moira back at HQ and if you would like to wish her happy birthday by sponsoring her efforts, follow the link to her JustGiving page to contribute.

And, to follow her exploits follow FPC on Instagram and LinkedIn.
