Why Chartered and Independent Advice Matters

FPC is pleased to have renewed its Chartered status, a recognition that reflects our continued commitment to professional standards, technical knowledge and client care.

Chartered status is widely recognised across the financial planning profession as the gold standard and is awarded to firms that can demonstrate a clear commitment to raising standards, maintaining technical competence and acting in clients’ best interests.

FPC was one of the first firms in the UK to achieve Chartered status in 2008. To maintain that status, we are required to reapply every year and submit detailed information about the firm to our professional body.

Financial planning supports individuals and families through some of the most important decisions they will ever make: when to retire, how to draw income, how to support family members, how to protect wealth, how to plan for later life, and how to balance the desire to live life to the full with the need for long-term financial security.

Those decisions require more than technical knowledge alone. They require judgement, experience, care and a commitment to doing things properly.

They also require advice that is centred on the client.

Independence matters too.

As an owner-managed independent financial planning firm, FPC has no external stakeholders and is not tied to a limited range of products or providers. That means our advice can be shaped around each client’s circumstances, objectives and priorities, rather than a restricted set of solutions.

This is important because every client’s situation is different. Some are planning for retirement, some are managing wealth across generations, some are selling or growing a business, and others are thinking about later-life care, inheritance or financial support for family.

Renewing our Chartered status is therefore not simply about holding a professional designation. It reflects the way we believe financial planning should be delivered: with clarity, integrity, independence and a long-term view.

That matters even more in a changing financial environment. Tax rules, pension legislation, market conditions and personal circumstances can all change over time. Clients need advice that is technically sound, practical, personal and regularly reviewed.

For us, Chartered status and independence go hand in hand and underpin our commitment to helping clients understand their options, make confident decisions and feel supported over the long term.

We are proud to have again renewed our Chartered status and remain committed to the standards, professionalism, independence and care our clients expect from FPC.
