As financial planners, our team at FPC is often involved in helping clients deal with challenging life experiences, such as when a loved one becomes unwell. In those situations, it is human nature to want to care for those we love, be that practically, financially, or both. When our own firm partner Bernice Blundell‘s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, her family began a journey that is sadly shared by many others – that of caring for a family member with dementia. Fortunately, there is practical help available, as Bernice explains: “Dementia UK supported us when our mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, showing us how to get through day by day. Unfortunately, most families will be touched by dementia or another degenerative illness, an experience that can literally tear relationships apart. “We could not have got through the experience without Dementia UK and as such my husband, Mark, and I decided to commit to the challenge of a lifetime by running the Windermere Marathon on 21st May to raise money as a thank you to the charity that helped us, and to help it help others.” While Bernice and Mark have some running experience already under their belts, including flat 10k’s🏃♂️, Lakeland trails 18k’s🏃♀️ and the Amsterdam half marathon in October 🏅 this will be their first marathon!
